what I liked in fashion in 2017

Posted on December 27, 2017

fashion is changing rapidly: there have been exits and new appointments, acquisitions, mergers, changing fashion weeks, changing fashion patterns, new fashion collaborations, sustainable businesses, D2C, absurd, self – ironic and crazy fashion, elevated streetwear, handcrafted fashion…

1.cross brand collaborations

in 2017, there were new fashion collaborations that cemented the unison between the worlds of high fashion and streetwear. once perceived as elitist industry, fashion is now open to a broad swath of cultures, styles and age groups.

I prefer JW anderson for uniqlo, off-white x levis made & crafted, vetements x champion and junya watanabe x the north face.

2. new york textile month

a september 2017 celebration of textile culture initiated by lidewij edelkoort showed a return of the interest in textiles and in their cultural expressions.

3. fashion stories about IKEA’s blue frakta bag

IKEA’s blue frakta bag has taken on a third life as a source of fashion cachet. balenciaga unveiled a large blue tote bag that bears a striking resemblance to IKEA’s iconic frakta bag and virgil abloh, who was invited to collaborate with IKEA for millennial – focused furniture collection, also presented his own version of the blue frakta bag that he made of cardboard.

4. thinking that fashion is more than “just pretty dresses”

considering the political situation in the world, the largest organized protests in american history, horrifying sexual assault claims, geopolitical tensions, threats of climate changes, refugees all over the world…, the fashion designers inclined to think about society and world today.

5. the opening of museum yves saint laurent in marrakech

a new museum dedicated to the life and work of yves saint laurent has opened in marrakech. designed by studio KO, the building sits a short distance from jardin majorelle – the home acquired by saint laurent and pierre bergé in 1980.

6. loewe: this is home

at casa loewe, creative director jonathan anderson brought a new collection of homeware showcasing work that included blurring the decorative with functional and bringing fashion into the household.

7.  the best pop up shop

in honour of the french brand’s silk squares 80th anniversary, hermès had launched a series of pop-up orange laundromats where customers could either dip-dye their old scarves or buy limited edition ones inside.

8. interview with gurum gvasalia

in the interview, he talked about luxury’s dirty secret, why he refuses to drink the poisoned water, about fashion as the second biggest polluted industry in the world and about fashion today.

9. documentary: dries

director reiner holzemer trailed van noten for a year, between his antwerp atelier and ringenhof, his home to make an intimate portrayal about the life and career of dries van noten.

10. designer logo T shirts

2017 has undoubtedly been the year of the designer logo T shirt, as everyone from gucci to chanel to dior has created these tees.

victoria beckham’s: “fashion stole my smile” is my favourite.

maison&objet paris

Posted on September 9, 2016

after a few years, it is nice to be in paris during design week in september again, take a walk through the new collections at le bon marche,  bargain in porte de clignancourt flea market on sunday morning, watch the passers-by at evenings in marais … the most exhausting is  offering your own collection in the crowd of products  at the fair…

LJFW 2016

Posted on May 14, 2016

in fashion, everything goes too fast: recently, the ljubljana fashion week with collections for autumn/winter 2016/17 has finished. the dresses have been selected for the production, materials have been ordered, the patterns have been modified.  now, the collection has to be produced and prepared for the sale. some of the brands have decided to sell their collections immediately after showing them at the fashion shows.   fashion circle has  become even faster and knowledge of logistics even more demanding.

almirasadar spring/summer 2016 home collection

Posted on March 11, 2016

almirasadar spring/summer home collection is designed with love of handwork, colors and patterns.  traditional textile techniques of crocheting, knitting and weaving are used to achieve a contemporary design. as a part of sustainable design, handwork recalls the forgotten cultural values which have been grown and developed in the past by people in the certain places. you can order the products in almirasadar shop, beethovnova 12, ljubljana or in e shop.
